Having strong bones, firm joints and feeling no pain in them is a miracle for older people, usually, they suffer from joint pain or arthritis, sciatica etc. Creaky, achy joints. A twinge in the knee. A sharp shooting pain from the shoulder to the elbow. No big deal, right?
Wrong. All too often, we assume joint pain is a normal part of aging that we just have to learn to live with. Leaving the pain and not doing nothing about it can make you unable to walk and even use a wheelchair. In order to prevent this from happening, you can use exercise for strengthening the joints so you could walk, run, stand up without any pain, jump and move freely. You can always turn to modern medications that treat the pain temporally and not entirely, furthermore, they can also damage other organs of your body.
The problem appears when your body lacks lubrication and that’s when the knee joints get less flexible and less movable. Quality sleep is important for the body to repair and rejuvenate. Melatonin has been found to have a positive effect on bone building whilst sleeping. Smoking can also interrupt the process of lubrication, smokers often have a lower body weight and bone mineral density. Sugar and alcohol are very acidic and inflammatory to the body. They have been found to increase urinary loss of minerals, including calcium. Calcium and vitamin D assist in the prevention of additional bone loss and in maintaining healthy/ strong joints. Dairy is well-known to be a source of calcium especially full-fat milk and Greek yogurt. Include Omega 3 fatty acids every day: walnuts, cold water, fish, fatty fish such as tuna or salmon, flaxseed, and fish oil supplements. These foods help lubricate the joints as well as reduce inflammation and associated pain. Drink more water to lubricate the joints.
